Naguru Parents’ School, Kampala and Mukono
In previous years, FOYA Uganda has worked with Naguru Parents’ School in Kampala and its branch school in Mukono.
The Naguru Parents’ School is primarily concerned with education of vulnerable groups of children, including street children, orphans, and children from poor income earning families. The school has approximately 500 students from ages 3-15. There are 14 teachers in the school. The Naguru Parents’ School is an amazing place where teachers love their students and students love to attend school. School is oftentimes the only safe haven for these children.
In the summers of 2011, 2012, and 2013, three teams of volunteers, through fund-raising and the generous contribution of others, worked at the Naguru Parents’ School building a playground, putting in a garden, painting the facility, starting a technology lab, building a first aid clinic, starting a library and modeling lessons for teachers. Through the efforts of the teachers and staff at the school, the team’s efforts have been not only sustained, but surpassed!
